Next round of talks on X Bipartite Settlement

 between

IBA and UFBU is scheduled on

11.10.2013 at Mumbai.

10TH BPS- NEXT ROUND OF TALKS ON 11TH OCT 2013.
From Shri. P. Mohan

Dear Friends,

After submission of Charter Of Demands on wage revision of employees /Retirees issues to IBA by UFBU on 30th October 2012,no major developments have taken place or even any serious discussions have carried out between the above two parties except an understanding on merger of DA at 4440 points(as on 1.11.2011) and on date of effect from 1.11.2012. during the last meet on 12th Aug 2013.

Meantine the request of AIBRF to invite them too for talks with IBA on issues pertaining to retirees also not yet materialised,Letter from DFS(MOF) on these lines sent to IBA after the meet of AIBRF office bearers with DFS few months back also ignored by IBA.However retirees organizations could present their views on related issues to UFBU in meet held on 4th July 2013,with an assurance from UFBU that all issues of retirees will be taken up by them during Xth BPS negotiations.

Taking into considerations of past records the process of BPS final settlement may go beyond 2013 if not 2014.In an era of advanced technology as well as available fast mode of communications etc , an inordinate delay in holding talks without any time frame has no excuse though it is the reality. Forget about discussions ,even for fixing a date for next talks itself find difficult for IBA!(though it may be a part of their game for delay!)

As far as retirees are concerned we have limitations in proceeding with direct actions while compared to serving employees which is a well known fact to IBA too.In the absence of any platform for us(at present) to discuss directly with IBA on our issues only alternative left to us is the support of serving employees unions. As such only through a coordinated move/concerted efforts of retirees organisations with employees unions/officers associations retirees could achieve their demands.

In such a scenario we should have patience at least to wait up to the conclusion of 10th BPS settlement. There also, no body can guarantee on the outcome of talks or on resolving all the issues of retirees .Still what is the harm in keeping a positive out look on possibility of resolving at least some of the major issues/demand of retirees either through BPS talks or through favorable verdicts of courts in related matters?

No body can be blamed, while some of us express their anxiety and debate on first priorities in issues/demands of pensioners to be resolved/considered by IBA , depending upon the segment they belong. But we forget certain realities and facts:

-Still there are good number retirees among us those who are not enjoying the benefit of pension for not on their fault but on wrong interpretations by IBA. The left over categories such as Resignees / CRS etc.For them extending an option on pension will be the first priority.

- For those who are drawing pension, especially pre 2002 retirees implementation 100% DA neutralisation is their prime concern which has not materialised so far despite favourable court verdict.

- Updation of pension as and when wage revision takes place and uniform medical facilities etc certainly become the major issues for one and all pensioners.

-Improvement in family pension and ex gratia to pre 1986 retirees etc are also important issues to be resolved.

All these issues need to be resolved.Let us look forward positively.

As per information available the next round of talks on 10th B.P.S between IBA and UFBU is scheduled on 11.10.2013 at Mumbai.

  1. Bank Unions are dead organic matter. over the years work load, no of working hous, pressure has increased many fold and at the same time emoluments have decreased.
Working on Sundays, Holidays, in the name of targets, audit, closing, govt business etc is regular phenomenon.
But still we have faith ?????????
