Shri K.R.Kamath
Chairman and Managing Director
Punjab National Bank
NEW DELHI
Sir,
REG: Lack of Institutional leadership at Field level – Demand corrective actions
Adequate compensation to the bereaved family
We hasten to draw your attention to the scores of communications addressed by our affiliate All India Punjab National Bank Officers’ Federation emphasising the urgent need to evolve a “mid course correction exercise” in dealing with human assets of the Bank.
We are sad to note in an earlier occasion the Field General Manager had brutally slapped the Branch head, as if the relationship between two Executives are of “Master and Servant” and the business handled by the Branch head was of personal business of the Zonal head and your Bank. At that time also, our affiliate had brought the matter to your knowledge and your administration had extended “velvet” touch treatment to the ‘erred functional field executives”.
This time, the cruelty exhibited by the Field Functionaries is inhuman, highly objectionable and also reprimandable one by the law of the land. Suffocation and humiliation led to sacrifice of his life as a fall out of the business conference conclave exercise. The suicide note clearly establishes their involvement, which is a provocative in nature.
At last, one of your colleague had taken an extreme step, thereby leaving the entire family in lurch. Does this action of your “Field level Functionaries” deserve deep condemnation coupled with severe punishment or not ?
It should be an eye opener to all, who are expected to function with their head on their shoulder in the Public Sector Institutions.
Having expressed with severe sadness over the developments, which was an unwarranted provocation, AIBOA urges upon you to consider the following:
[a] Initiate appropriate action against the two officials who have caused a “scar” on the Institution by their uncivilized conduct
[b] Consider substantial compensation to the bereaved family
[i] If the children are studying in college, Bank should bear
the total expenses of education till they complete the course.
[ii] Monetary compensation should be equal to as if the officer employee is in service, till retirement.
[iii] Compassionate ground appointment of the dependent as per the desire of bereaved family
[c] A detail circular pertaining to the conduct of Business development meeting with due recordings should be issued immediately.
We request you to initiate every reasonable steps to arrest the sagging morale of the officer staff in your Bank, as the business figures are negative when compared to March 2014.
Please acknowledge.
Yours faithfully,
/S.NAGARAJAN/
GENERAL SECRETARY
