One of my friends Ganapathi Subramanian who is vigilant trade union worker has reminded me and has drawn my attention on the deliberations made during the arena of Awards. Desai Award vide its Para 5.181 has upheld the claim of parity in wages in identical situation for the similarly placed employees in other industries. We have grown up as trade union worker learning that service conditions of Bank Employees are governed by Sastry Award as modified from time to time by subsequent award and settlements.
So a question which must agitate the mind of every bank employee should be: When parity in wages have been upheld in the award which governs our service conditions, why combined leadership of all the major unions in the name of UFBU cann't achieve pay parity instead they are satisfied with what has been offered by IBA as has been confirmed by the IBA in its circular which has been issued immediately after conclusion of today's talks.
I have seen top leaders saying that our members don't support the sinerest efforts made by them and don't attend meetings and programmes of the unions whereas when I look at the views of the members on Facebook, I find that almost all the members are asking and demanding their leaders parity in wages and for achieving that purpose call for indefinite strike.
During my career of 37 years, I have never witnessed so much enthusiasm, zeal, courage and conviction as is being displayed by bank employees at the moment and I fail to understand the logic behind calls for one or two days strike instead of listening and honouring the sentiments of mass bank employees.
Our Trade Union Movement is in pathetic situation, its high time that present leadership of retired and tired persons should act as advisors paving the way for younger trade union workers to run and manage trade unions and bring radical changes of democracy, transparency, use of modern tecnology for data building for negotiations and bagaining etc.

AN APPEAL & INVITATION
Dear Friends,
For a few days back, I have been writing on Facebook Groups “BANKS WAGE REVISION – 2012” and “5 DAY BANKING SUPPORTERS”, which have 50800 and 28000 approx. members, respectively. So, together we are a group of 75,000 persons approximately, if we do not count a few common members. And all these persons are having a good level of Intellect, Awareness and Energy. Several of these persons liked my views and expressions, viz. “Lip service will not help …”, “Don’t go verbal ….” and “There is no use expecting …”. Some persons seemed to be confused about the whereabouts of “My Notes” on my Facebook page.
So, I am producing the gist of the same here, noted below.
Also, since, I am of the view that “Lip service will not help …”, hence, instead of continuing the “Lip Service” on both of the above Group Pages, I now find it appropriate for us to switch ourselves over from verbal to action, as it is not going to be of any use for us to remain verbal only. Only, concerted and united efforts in right direction with right attitude and planning have the solutions of our problems.
Hence, I mention, here, my next course of action.Friend, we all are angry, only about the way the wage revision is being handled, while all of us deserve some more rights and benefits. I want you all to join me in my mission, to fight for what we deserve not only as Workmen, but also as the Humans and the Citizens of India. I mention below some of the points of my charter of rights and benefits.
• Political inclusion (Right to form Political Parties and participate in the election of Political Representatives).
• Five days week working, in view of increasing stress at workplace and in daily life, and also, to conserve energy viz. electricity and petroleum, keeping in view the crisis of costly FOREX and huge CAD etc.
• Parity with 6th and 7th pay commissions for Central Govt. Employees.
• Equal pay and allowances for equal work. (A several decades old unfulfilled demand, now not being demanded by our unions)
• Time scale promotion to stop injustice, effective since year 2001.
• Freedom from exploitation.
Friends, it is very much clear that we are not going to get the above benefits without creating any political pressure. Our trade unions have already made sufficient efforts on one or two of the above and we can not hope further from them. I offer similar benefits to the people of other organizations viz. Central and State Govt., all PSUs, Semi-government and other organizations, also. It is the dire need of the hour that we should unite and fight for our existence with dignity and honour taking the workers from other organizations, also, with us. Most important of above all is the “Political Inclusion”, which is denied to us since beginning.
Friends, living without this political right is tantamount to living like slaves and almost non-existent creatures. We are being treated in the same way. It is only us who can help ourselves, our families, our Nation and our coming generations. So, I request you all to join me in my mission and experiment.
Through experiments, we can develop ourselves and help our nation. Bring others, also, in the fold, as many persons as you can. This is the best time to explode keeping in view the Elections 2014, which is going to be multicornered this time. So, have courage and come forward. Election 2014 is the best opportunity for us. Opportunity never comes again and again. So, we should grab it now or loose it for ever. I know that participating in political activity is not allowed as per our Conduct Rules, but, if we go ahead in a much planned manner we can have this Right for us before the elections. You have seen the performance of AAP and I feel that united we are multi times better that them.
I had made some efforts in the past in this direction. I met some big names of the Indian Society on various issues of national importance, but there was no positive outcome. I had written to the Prime Minister on several issues including this one, but, of no avail. Only, Mr. President, Pranab Mukherjee Sahab, responded me on Mrs. Durga Shakti Nagpal issue in U.P. and I treat the result as my success and achievement with the help of Mr. President.
I, also, tried to persuade two big personalities, to participate in five State Elections held in late 2013, but failed. Out of these two, one Ms. Medha Patkar is now joining the politics through AAP. When she says ‘Agitation Not the Answer, Political Intervention’s the Only Way Forward’ (Economic Times – 14th Feb. 2014), she propagates my views, written to her prior to the State Elections late 2013. At last, she has got motivated by my views.
Friends, I quoted these examples, just to create, in yourselves, a confidence in myself and to motivate you all, also. So, have courage and confidence in self and come forward with the speed of a Tornado. We have not much time, if we chose to be lazy. We will start all our efforts in a non-political manner and will remain non-political till we get the Right of Political Inclusion. So, there is no risk on your jobs. I have a full strategy, which will save our time and energies to be spent on planning. Hence, 90% job is done, already, and 10%, the implementation part remains, only. Our verbal expressions and grievances create an impression that we are not able to do more than that and can never dump the politicians, treating us like slaves and nonexistent entities, in the political dustbin.
Friends, the Great Guru Govind Singh Ji started with “PANJ PYARE” (Five Dearest), only. You are 75000, at least and are much more talented. Any big goal may become tiny if you decide and converge. You have to come forward with the same dedication, determination, discipline and courage. No doubts and no distractions, once you march forward. Our swiftness will make us extremely confident, safe & strong, and our opponents a demoralized lot. So be quick and focused, please.
It is getting too long, so, before I finish this document, I mention here the further course of action for all of us. Friends, initially, we have to converge on one platform and the name of this platform is Abhay Chaudhary, as there is no organization at present formed for managing this endevour, and make a big size real and physical group of like minded persons. We are not going to form any new Trade Union, certainly, so you can remain intact with your current unions. We are 75000 members who can make it to 200000 banker volunteers and if bring the like minded people from other organizations all over India, it can be 500000 volunteers and more, very easily, with a target date of 22nd Feb. 2014. Within this period each one has to convince min. 3 other bankers and min. 4 from other organizations all over India. But, try to think big on your own and set your own targets within this period. They may be your friends and relatives, living in your city or outside it. I require Coordinator teams and Motivators at District and City (big) level and also, IT people to create our own interactive Website. This will help us to expand swiftly and manage our mission quiet effectively. So, I mention below the steps of our moving forward.
1. Contact people and convince them as said above. Have meetings and form groups of 10 to 20 people.
2. Find out qualified IT volunteers.
3. Send a blank e-mail on my e-mail id “abhaychaudhary2014@gmail.com” with a subject line mentioning you “City, State, Possible no. of people to be motivated by your goodselves and Your mobile no.(If you want to be Motivator and a Coordinator) e.g. “Vijayvada, AndhraPradesh, 10, 88888888888”, so that I can send you various forms, guidelines and documents created earlier.
4. Motivator and Coordinator volunteers can contact directly on my mobile nos. 8898847007 and 9769391395 between 3.30 P.M. to 8.00 P.M. from Mon to Fri and 12.30 P.M. to 8.00 P.M. on Sat and Sunday. WHY IS IT THAT GENERAL MANAGERS OF NATIONALISED BANKS ARE INVARIABLY APPOINTED AS EDs IN OTHER BANKS EVEN IF THERE IS A VACANCY IN THEIR OWN BANK ? HOW MUCH OUTSIDE KNOWLEDGE TO THEY BRING IN OR TAKE OUT ?
BEING ED OR CMD IN YOUR OWN BANK MEANS SO MUCH ADDITION IN CONTINUITY AND LOYALTY - AND IN UNDERSTANDING THOSE WORKING UNDER YOU AND THE ENVIRONMENT
ONE CAN UNDERSTAND AN OCCASSIONAL CROSS TRANSFER - WHY EVERY TIME ? EVEN EDs ARE POSTED IN SOME OTHER BANK AFTER ELEVATION TO CMD EVEN IF THE BANK'S OWN CMD MAY BE RETIRING.

SO ULTIMATELY AFTER DAYS OF STRIKES AND AGITATIONS WE SETTLE FOR A PITTANCE - WAY BELOW ANYTHING THAT OFFICERS AND WORKERS IN OTHER GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC SECTOR ORGANISATIONS GET.
I AM TOLD THAT A GRADE II OFFICER IN THE GOI RETIRES AT A HIGHER PAY SCALE THAN GMs OF PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS
IMAGINE !!!!!!!!
NOW NO ONE IS TALKING ANAY MORE ABOUT THE 5 DAY WEEK. THE TALK NOW IS JUST WHETHER WE WILL GET MORE THAN A 10% HIKE. HOW MUCH WILL IT BE - 15% OR 18%.
ALREADY ASSOCIATION AND UNION LEADERS ARE GOING AROUND DAMPENING EXPECTATIONS
30% WAGE HIKE ? FORGET IT. THAT IS FOR GOI OFFICDERS AND EMPLOYEES IN THE NEXT PAY COMMISSION. WHERE WILL THE MONEY COME FROM IF WE BANK OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES DO NOT SACRIFICE ?
5 DAY WEEK ? HA HA HA !!! IN YOUR NEXT LIFE MAYBE
BEFORE I GO - A SIMPLE QUESTION
WE ARE NOT GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND NOT GOVERNED BY GOVERNMENT OFFICERS RULES SAYS THE MINISTER OF STATE, FINANCE
THEN WHY ARE PUBLIC SECTOR BANK STAFF HAULED UP FOR ELECTION DUTY ?
ASSOCIATION AND UNION LEADERS - TAKE THIS UP WITH THE GOI IF U WISH. EVEN ON ELECTION DAYS WE HAVE TO BE ON DUTY. NOT ONLY DO WE NOT GET A HOLIDAY - WE DO NOT EVEN GET TO VOTE.
MAYBE THAT IS WHY THE FINANCE MINISTER GIVES A DAMN ABOUT US.
