Message From Union Leader After Dirty Remarks Of PC

Circular No.5/VI/2014

February 11, 2014

To:
ALL UNITS / STATE COMMITTEES

Dear comrades,

Congrats ! Bankmen!!

You have made it

The strike of 48 hours, a resounding success

In the background of the 8th round of wage talks inching from 9.5% to 10% against the UFBU expectation of substantial increase necessitated to reply their rigid action on 27th JANUARY 2014 on the negotiation table, by serving 48 hours strike notice.

Reports are flowing uninterruptedly from the all over the country about the successful observance of strike call, as the entire workforce have felt the insult inflicted by IBA, who have failed to live upto the expressions made by IBA Chairman in the first round of discussions held on 22.02.2013 that the settlement would be concluded on 14th August 2013 with the reasonable, respectable and comparable wage revision compared with external factors.

Having earned a gross profit of Rs.1,12,290 crores [2011-12], the offer of IBA is too meagre as against the UFBU’s minimum demand of 30% on payslip components, submitted with sufficient details to IBA. In the CLC[C] discussions at Delhi on 6th February 2014 too, the approach of IBA was too rigid.

Adding fuel to fire, the statement of Hon’ble Finance Minister in the meeting at Delhi yesterday, painted a picture that the entire profit earned are to be set apart for the wage increase for the Bankmen. The expressions of the FM is really unfortunate and a provocative one.

If the Government and Banker set apart of 10% of the gross profit earned as at 31.03.2012, towards payslip components that step will be appreciated. If the four defaulters of the country [ie] Kingfisher Airline Rs.2673 crores, Winsome Diamond and Jewellery Co., Ltd., Rs.2660 crores, Electrotherm India Ltd., Rs.2211 crores and Zoom Developers P Ltd., Rs.1810 crores amounting Rs.9354 crores would also suffice the minimum demand of the entire Banking workforce.

As per the practice, UFBU is to take call on the developments in toto and expected to chalk out the further agitational programmes of higher form.

Bankmen! You have done it !!

AIBOA shall live upto the expectation along with other Unions

In the Banking Industry.

With warmest greetings of the struggle.

Yours comradely,
/S.NAGARAJAN/

Today I have attended UFBU's demonstration at Press Complex, Bhopal. Most of the union leaders were there and raised their voice against Govt. & IBA for best bipartite settlement ever done with some other demands like 5 days week, regulated working hours, outsourcing, privatisation, merger of banks and stop of so called banking reforms. This was 1st strike demonstration, I have ever attended. Before this, I always commented about failure of unions, their weaknesses, corrupt union leaders etc on facebook.

After attending this demonstration, I realize the power & agitation of UFBU and other union leaders towards Govt & IBA. But the most unfortunate thing I observed there, was absence of my young colleagues who are regularly criticizing UFBU on fb. Ye aise log hain jo sirf fb ya whats app pe unions ko kos sakte hain, unki burai kar sakte hain, unki kamiya nikal sakte hain, but khud kuchh nahi karte hain. Inke Jaise ghatiya logo ki wajah se hi aaj hum itne kamzor dikhayi padte hain. frnds main ek baat to boht achhi tarah samajh gaya hu ki agar ham khud kuchh nahi kar sakte hain to hame UFBU ya kisi aur union ke baare me kehne ka koi haq nahi hai. Maine aaj apni awaz sirf IBA ya Govt ke khilaf hi nahi uthai hai, balki har us kamzor banker ke khilaf uthai hai jo sirf fb pe neta bante hain jabki asliyat me wo kuchh bhi karne ke layak nahi hain. Bhale hi ye union leaders safed baal wale hain par unme hum youngsters se boht jyada josh, energy aur jazba hai. UFBU Zindabaad. IBA - Govt Murdabad.

i propose,
1. we should prepare a note on our demands and wrong doings of IBA and Ministry of finance,
2. Spend some fund out of accumulated fund from association and get daily advertisement in newspapers,
3. Arrange for some live discussions on television channels regarding our wage revision or arrange press conference,
4. Get this note printed as pamphlets and get them circulated with newspaper across all centres on regular intervals,
5. Write a letter and get it signed by 100,000 bankers or more and send copies to PM/Rahul Gandhi/ Sonia Gandhi / leader of opposition and Narendra Modi asking for their stand on this issue,
6. Get mail id of all the parliamentarians and send emails to them on daily basis,
7. Form a group of officers at different centres and try to meet the MPs and discuss with them our issues requesting them to raise the issue in parliament,
8. Use our facebook accounts and get the accounts of ministers and political parties flooded with our demands,
I request ,
1. Our leaders/ representatives to formally announce a forum from where latest updates will be available to have clarity in our future action,
2. provide a forum of discussion to members for how to gear up the agitation,
3. At least now try to get connected with members and come out of their comfort zones and share their views, if they think they aren't capable of handling tech products get help of younger generation. Please , answer - "where are we heading now?"
4. Our members/ colleague to stop celebrating strike as purchased holiday and come on the roads, kyonki - "aaj sadak par nahi aayenge to kal pakka sadak par hi jayenge !".
5. Younger generation should actively participate in the forthcoming programmes and lady staff should also break the glass ceiling and come forward.
.
. Plz forward this message along with your better ideas in all groups related to banking.... INQLAAB ZINDABAAD !!

A shameful petition by the SBI, Kolkata Management, for enforcement of 144(2) filed in the Court of the Ld. 10th Executive Magistrate, Kolkata, led to an ex- party order that restricted the entry of the Bank Employees on peaceful strike inside the LHO, Kolkata premises. The copy of the order was displayed outside the Main Gate.

The incident gave birth to the pictorial picture that showed the Policemen inside the Bank Main gate and the Bank workers standing outside. Shame on such management that allows the police inside to restrict the Bank workers from entering their own workplace. Shame on such management who finds police to be more friendly than those workmen of theirs who works hard for days and nights only for the well being of the Bank…. For earning higher and higher profits. Shame on such management that can run fast to a court spending huge money to fight against its own employees instead of doing the same to recover the NPAs of the big fishes.

The fight against such shameful management must go on…!!

Kochi, February 11: The Indian Banks’ Association, which represents bank managements, has put on hold its negotiations with the United Forum of Bank Unions scheduled for February 13, even as the all-India strike kept most bank branches in the country shuttered on Tuesday.

CH Venkatachalam, General Secretary of the All-India Bank Employees Association, one of the nine unions that make up UFBU, told Business Line the IBA had simply informed the unions that it had ‘postponed’ the talks and no new date was given.
