Bank Staff ,Bank And Narendra Modi

Girish Shah posts on facebook on 28.02.2014

Sh. Umesh Sharma, Retired DGM from State Bank of India met Sh Narendra Modi, the BJP PM Candidate today (27.02.2014, Maha Shiv Ratri) to discuss SBI Pensioners' case. Mr Rahul Gandhi was also approached but no appointment has yet been given.

Details of Meeting with Sri Narendra Modi in MR Sharma’s words:

“As against 1o minutes given 10 time, the meeting lasted for 27 minutes. What was amazing that he had gone through the email sent and understood the issues. He had some questions. I reproduce what he said :
Narendra Modi: Sharma ji, I have read your mail and I am convinced that State Bank has done outstanding work in nation building.

Meri manyata hai ki jab Pension Yojana hai, to woh har tarah se Adarsh honee hi chahiye.

Umesh Sharm: If RBI starts paying Interest on CRR balances, which it used to give till few yrs back, that alone can take care of our demands. He said that is in RBIs' domain and Govt would talk to them. How can they refuse to pay interest on the balances which have a cost? He said I remember one of your Chairman had raised this issue. OK.

- I then mentioned about unsettled cases of defunct PSUs where billion of bank funds are locked. Government has not taken any decision and bank has no income although accounts are not treated as NPA since sovereign guarantee is available.
-He wanted decision making process to be speeded up and instead prefers an Expert Commitee of Bankers and Industry specific people to look at and advise the Govt about the viability or otherwise. In a years time, final decision would be taken if we come to power.
I also mentioned about Banks’ forced investments in low yield Govt . Securities.
-He said Banks have to lend a helping hand in nation building. But he is for barely minimum Govt interference in Banks functioning.
Finally, he said.....you Secure Votes for us, I will secure a fair deal for you!
"Kuchh bat hai, tabhi NaMo itna khas hai...Vishwas jagata hai.....! Prayers that he forms the Govt and fulfils his commitments"”

My comment!
Mr Sharma’s interaction with PM nominee has raised hopes not only for improvement of staff pension terms but also the profitability of all PSU Banks if NaMo prescribes a time bound recipe to the Fin Min if he comes to power.

India abjectly and woefully lacks decisive leaders at National level which void NaMo is likely to fill.

Coming to our demands and support the bank (SBI) currently has 2.3 lakh staff. Same is the number of retirees more or less!

So 4.5 lakh families may have about 15 lakh direct relatives (family members) who should vote for NaMo en block! Every pensioner has at least 20 -25 close family friends and relatives. If they can also be convinced and influenced, the number would swell to almost one crore. If some customers can also be persuaded the figure can easily cross 2 cr especially when the rivals are hardly in a position to give even a semblance of a fight.

SBI has 20% share of banking industry. Therefore, if all bankers collectively n consciously decide to vote n canvass for NaMo; potentially 10 crore votes out of total 80 cr voters can shift/ swing to his side. Assuming 65% voter turnout only 52 crore votes will be polled. Thus 10 crore votes assured by bankers alone can tilt the scales definitively in NaMo's favour and India can get a strong and decisive leader as PM!

Thanks, Mr Umesh Sharma, for taking the lead and initiative for which every banker, past and present, would ever be indebted to you.

  2. Harward educated Chick FM, Mr Chidambaram said to have uttered that Banks' profits are not just to pay the staff salaries. It is not beyond his comprehension that Banks are among a few institutions that are earning profits not only to meet staff costs, dividends to public and other stake holders including GOI contrary to many departments whose salaries are paid from the budget allocations only. The paradox Mr Chidmbaram should open up and realise that such central govt dept employees are paid much higher salaries through successive pay commission compared to our bank employees who tail hard while working under stress and accountability. Time to think Mr FM. Do you know some meanings of.. equity, equality and justice in wage settlements. Wanna Oxford Dictionary or an Italian one.

  4. Sir
I too agree with this and wish to add as
Banks can be used or misused for the GOI development programme or for generating vote from public as debt waiver DBT Narega Manrega Pension scheme interest benefits on certain types of loans and many more loss oriented business
But whenever the issues regarding staff welfare and wage parity comes in the picture they are least bothered as most of employees are away from home and they are deprived of voting rights ..... postal valet is waste. ... in order to bring some change by voting
so there should be a clearcut guidlines for special leave for going home to cast the vote for all such employees who are posted to any other place than there home or their should be provision to cast their vote in local pollling booths for the local leaders at their place of posting to show our presence in indian politics ...... otherwise we will cheated allways

we should motivate local public to change the government by educating them or by canvassing for certain specific parties

Divide and rule policy are still in existence by certain parties

    jago bharat jago
