Kamlesh Chaturvedi Writes On Union Leaders Vs Wage Revision

Kamlesh Chaturvedi writes on facebook as follows on capability and trustworthiness of bank union leaders so far as negotiation of union leaders with IBA on  wage revision is concerned

Each one of us is eager for revision of pay. We have received news that UFBU is meeting in Mumbai on 22nd. We have been informed that meeting would discuss and decide the course of action for early settlement for revision of pay scale. We are also given to understand that march to parliament is being organized.

Reliable sources reveal that one or two days strike call would be given. This confirms the earlier information given by same reliable sources that at least 10 days strike call would be given at frquent intervals on one pretext or the other to implement the secret deal of recovering around Rs.54, 000 Crores shortage in implementing the second option of pension.

Honest leadership comes out in open to prove that such reports are false and UFBU is not doing any drama in the name of such meetings, negotiations, parliament march, demonstrations and strikes but they are really serious. We feel to understand as to why I present era of technology why proceedings of such meetings and negotiations are video recorded and uploaded on youtube and websites of the unions to make every thing transparent? This does not require any thing special but ca be done through smart phones which our leaders carry with them. I think if this is being done it will reimpose the faith and trust of bank employees in leadership and would go a long way in strengthening of the trade union movement in banking industry.

On the eve of this meeting and ongoing negotiations between UFBU and IBA, it would be worth to apprise you of the factual position relating to bank officers and employees. Union leaders are shy to discuss such charts as these tables expose the capabilities of such leaders to get an honourable settlement for the bankers. We give below two charts for perusal by bankers and for drawing their own

  1. Whatever the comparison we have done regarding parity in wages between the Bank employees Vs Central/State Govt. Employees, these this go waste just as a "Bugle sound at the Deaf Ear".

  2. How can you compare Bank Scale Officer with Grade pay of IAS and Civil services.
The Right comparision will be with Grade pay of 4200 with Scale 1
Grade pay 4600 with scale 2
Scale 3 with Grade pay 5400

    1. Why!!! Whether the Bank officers are not managing....just like the IAS. Whether they are not as capable as govt. Officers.. I believe that bank officials are more capable. Just look at the disasters being happened in all over country & then look at the Bank's positions. Banks are much better.

    2. @ above.. the one who has posted the chart is trying to mislead others..

Central govt officers , hugely recruited by SSC are starting from grade pay 4200..
Only after 2-3 promotions do they get grade pay of 5400..

only the elite people who clear the civil services get the direct Group A posts with GP of 5400..

Similarly in bank , the entry level is JMGS Scale I, only some elite people with MBA from IIM etc get directly into Scale III directly..

Hence either compare JMGS-I with GP of 4200 of central govt....

or compare central govt GP of 5400 with Scale III pay..

the above comparison is utter non sense..!!!

    3. @above their is no concept like elite people and an mba graduate definelty not comes under the elite category.. mba's are working as clerks and even as sub-staff in many branches. we are talking about public sector banks only so their is no question of direct scale III even if he acquires his MBA from harvard. You could refer the supreme court judgement in this regard. Most bankers are generally aware of the paygrades or salaries of Most departments so we no who is speaking nonsense. Keep your babugiri with yourself

  3. History knows that UFBU has never been transparent and fair in its act of negotiation to bring a honorable wage revision. My friend has rightly described that in this era of high technology it is very easy to keep the mass members apprised of their stand, activities etc. but the main thing is there should be an honest and stron will which UFBU doesn't possess.

  4. In Pillai committee recommendations The salary of JMGS1 was given equal to that of an IAS officer in 1979.
