Bank Staff Strike 19th December ?

Bank strike on December 19--Business Line

K. R. SRIVATS
Over a million bank employees will
go on all-India strike on December 19.
This has been decided by the United Forum of Bank
Union (UFBU), a representative body of nine bank
unions.

The strike call is for wage revision demand and also
for expressing opposition to banking reforms of
the Government, C.H.Venkatachalam, Secretary
General of All India Bank Employees Association
said.

STRIKE:

UNITED FORUM OF BANK UNIONS' (U.F.B.U.) MEETING HELD TODAY AT

CHENNAI DECIDED TO CALL FOR ONE DAY STRIKE ACTION ON 19th

DECEMBER DEMANDING:

1. EARLY WAGE REVISION
2. TO STOP BANKING REFORMS

UFBU meeting held at Chennai and decided to go on 1 day strike on 19th Dec.

2013 for early wage revision and against Banking Sector Reforms. NOBW and

NOBO suggested for 2-3 days strike. But other organisations suggested for 1

days strike. Therefore for the unity we have agreed for one days strike. If

Govt. will not give any offer in future UFBU may go on 2-3 days strike action.

  2. bakwaas day chosen by IFBU. 19 December is already declared holiday in Goa because of its liberation day. why IFBU is hell bent of subtracting a day's salary from Goa Bank employees for an already declared holiday?? It's a bull shit plan

  4. This is pathetic to say the least. The last bipartite talks were held on 11th October 2013. Its been more than one month since then and it would be more than two months from that date if UFBU is to go ahead with the strike. What on earth prevented UFBU from meeting sooner and deciding on a much sooner date. As it is a single day strike - as evidenced from efforts during the 9th BPS - is grossly ineffective. And that paltry effort coming two months after the IBA declaring that they don't have the mandate to decide upon the quantum of wage revision is reflective of the ineffectiveness of UFBU as a forum and the ethical and moral corruptness of its leaders. Shame on UFBU! Shame on you 'mighty' union comrades. The ordinary banker is working more than 14 hours a day and you wouldn't care so much as to convene a meeting at the earliest and decide sooner? Shame on you!
